The historical breadth of the Stainer & Bell catalogue is without parallel in British music. A diversity of composers – from William Sterndale Bennett to Alan Bush and Thomas Weelkes to Maude Valérie White – has found a place in our publications, alongside great names such as Byrd, Dowland, Purcell, Stanford, Elgar, Holst and Vaughan Williams – truly a panorama of achievement that spans the centuries.
By clicking on the images in the gallery below, the work of 29 famous past masters and notable living musicians featured in the catalogue may be explored in detail through individual biographies, portraits and lists of currently available titles. Hymn writers with their own pages can be found here. All sales titles are available in our secure online shop. Rental works are listed separately in our Hire Library.
Because today's innovation may be tomorrow’s repertoire, Stainer & Bell has for over a century championed contemporary composers, most recently with the works of Morgan Hayes, Bayan Northcott, Rhian Samuel and Roger Steptoe. Their work has enriched a variety of genres, and our extensive list covers all types of music and ability levels, with instrumental solos, songs, chamber pieces, concertos, and orchestral and choral-orchestral music.
Our Promotion Department will be happy to supply scores and recordings for perusal, and to answer any queries by phone, or by e-mail to caroline@stainer.co.uk.
